Official Shirts
Regular members are eligible to purchase an alumni shirt if desired. Although not a requirement, it is encouraged so that Alumni members are easily identifiable at community events, especially those that are sponsored or supported by GRCPAAA. For information on purchasing your official shirt, please contact our Membership Coordinator.
Bi-monthly Meetings
Membership meetings are held on odd-numbered months on the 3rd Thursday at 6pm in the Garden Ridge Community Center. Both Regular and Provisional members can attend. NOTE: Only the Regular members can make motions and vote during these meetings. Reminders are usually sent to members in an email and posted to our Facebook Group.
The membership is asked to volunteer to take turns providing goodies to share at the meeting. If you want to volunteer to help with this, please contact the Social Committee Chairperson. Coffee, water, and sodas are provided.
Bi-monthly Socials
During the even numbered months, the GRCPAAA holds a Social at a local restaurant. The socials are normally held on the 3rd Thursday with a start time of 5:45pm, and both Regular and Provisional members can attend. The only protocol is to enjoy everyone’s company and to enjoy the food — no business is discussed at the socials. As usual, reminders are sent to members in an email and posted to our Facebook Group.
Garden Ridge Citizen Police Academy (GRCPA)
Every 2 years, a Citizen Police Academy class is offered by the Garden Ridge Police Department for those Garden Ridge residents who have an interest in becoming more involved in their community or simply want to learn more about our wonderful, local police department.
- The class includes presentations from various law enforcement officials and community support organizations.
- Activities include: hands-on learning about fingerprinting and traffic stops, meeting the K-9 unit, visiting the county jail, putting out small fires, learning about law enforcement tools and weapons, and visiting the gun range
- An overview of Texas laws and their application in the investigative process is also discussed.
- Each student will be provided numerous opportunities to interact with your local police officers.
- All graduates of this class are encouraged to join the Alumni Association (GRCPAAA) to continue supporting your community and local law enforcement agency. Opportunities to assist in the Citizens Patrol (CP) and Check on Your Neighbor (COYN) program are available to GRCPAAA members with additional training.
