Active Shooter Emergency Care Course
There’s Been an Attack and You or a Loved One Have Been Seriously Injured
- No matter how rapid the arrival of first responders, bystanders will always be the first on scene to care for the injured
- Law Enforcement’s first priority is to find and stop the attacker… Rendering aid must come after the killing is stopped
- Trained EMS Personnel cannot access the scene until after the attacker is neutralized. It may be up to YOU to save a life!
When Life or Death is Measured in Seconds and Help is Minutes Away,
Will You Know What to Do?
The Garden Ridge Police Department and the Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association have partnered together to present:
A.S.E.C.C. – Active Shooter Emergency Care Course
This course offers training in applying immediate life-saving care in an austere and non-permissive environment to “bridge the gap” between the attack and the arrival of EMS Personnel. The course is geared towards those with little or no training though even trained professionals will likely find value in the experience.
Instruction includes assessment of injuries, application of tourniquets, wound packing, use of hemostatic agents, applying various types of dressings and bandages, treatment for shock, picking the right medical kit for you and more. Training supplies will be provided – you need only bring a positive attitude and a willingness to learn!
This class is FREE to Garden Ridge Residents and Their Families!
