     The Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association and City of Garden Ridge Police Department have partnered to present the REFUSE TO BE A VICTIM seminar.  This program presents information on potential risks, creating safety plans and offers an array of safety strategies.  Here are just a few of the things you will learn:

  • Personal Security for Yourself and Your Family
  • Security in the Home Environment
  • Selection and Use of Personal Security Devices
  • Security in the Workplace and Public Spaces
  • Security of Personal Technology Devices
  • Safety and Security in Automobiles
  • Personal Security for Senior Citizens
  • Personal Security for Those With Disabilities

No Matter Your Age, Gender, Occupation or Physical Abilities, the REFUSE TO BE A VICTIM Program Has Valuable Information for Everyone!

This class is FREE to Garden Ridge Residents and Their Families!

Volunteers for July 4th Picnic

We are currently in need of volunteers for the July 4th Picnic to be held in Paul Davis Park. At this time, we need folks who can help with the food as well as anyone who has items they would like to donate to the silent auction.

Food / Kitchen Help

We’ve already got the cooks lined up, but are in need of additional volunteers who can help with:

  • Passing out food
  • Passing out drinks
  • Wrapping the food when cooked
  • Keeping the various stations supplied

Polo Shirts

We now have a new source for our Citizen’s Patrol (CP) (Black) and Organization (Blue) polo shirts. The good news is the price of the shirts has remained the same!

Shirts sized from XS through XL are $20 and XXL and higher are $21.

We are now taking alumni blue shirt orders for alumni members.

In addition, qualified CP members can order a replacement shirt as well as a CP cap. The organization will pay for the first shirt and cap for newly qualified CP members who complete their CP training.

Active Shooter Emergency Care Course

There’s Been an Attack and You or a Loved One Have Been Seriously Injured

  • No matter how rapid the arrival of first responders, bystanders will always be the first on scene to care for the injured
  • Law Enforcement’s first priority is to find and stop the attacker… Rendering aid must come after the killing is stopped
  • Trained EMS Personnel cannot access the scene until after the attacker is neutralized. It may be up to YOU to save a life!

The Garden Ridge Police Department and the Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association have partnered together to present:

A.S.E.C.C. – Active Shooter Emergency Care Course

This course offers training in applying immediate life-saving care in an austere and non-permissive environment to “bridge the gap” between the attack and the arrival of EMS Personnel. The course is geared towards those with little or no training though even trained professionals will likely find value in the experience.

Instruction includes assessment of injuries, application of tourniquets, wound packing, use of hemostatic agents, applying various types of dressings and bandages, treatment for shock, picking the right medical kit for you and more. Training supplies will be provided – you need only bring a positive attitude and a willingness to learn!

This class is FREE to Garden Ridge Residents and Their Families!

Law Enforcement Week

Don’t forget that May 12-18 is Law Enforcement Week. Many of you have sent cards or notes that will be delivered throughout the week to the great men and women of our Garden Ridge Police Department. The Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association is also sponsoring several lunches during the week, and as always, you are welcome to stop in and say thanks in person, or when you see our officers out in public. They are always happy to hear from you, and getting the occasional “thanks!” is especially nice.
